SIIA Primer on K-20 Education Interoperability Standards Released

From the 2/15 SIIA Education Division newletter:

This week, SIIA released a Primer on interoperability to members only, with the document to be released publicly in mid-March. Half informational and half advocacy, the Primer seeks to advance the understanding and adoption of interoperability standards to support content portability, data sharing and application integration. The Primer was authored by Edward Walker, Executive Vice President of Consulting Services for Education (CS4Ed) under the guidance of SIIA’s Technical & Development committee. It is the view of SIIA and leading SIIA members that further adoption now, and continued development into the future, of technical interoperability standards are necessary to maximize the impact of educational technologies, enabling innovation and improving products/services for consumers and vendors alike. The Primer provides an introduction, identifies the key issues and standards, outlines the way forward, and includes an extensive appendix of key standards and related initiatives.
